On a motorcycle ride between San Simeon and Ragged Point we experienced some of the world’s most picturesque scenery. Highway 1 winds alongside the majestic Santa Lucia Mountains, meeting the Pacific Ocean with breathtaking views at every turn.
But nothing compared to what we found when we arrived at Ragged Point. Perched along the captivating coastline of Big Sur, Ragged Point emerged as a secluded treasure. The point offers awe-inspiring views of rugged cliffs, tumultuous waves, and boundless ocean expanses.
Lace up your hiking boots and explore the network of trails that wind through Ragged Point’s pristine wilderness. The Ragged Point Cliffside Trail delivers stunning rewards. With its 300-foot seasonal waterfall and black sand beach, the 0.8-mile trail is a moderate challenge best suited for experienced hikers wearing sturdy footwear. Dogs on-leash are welcome, and the trail is accessible from Ragged Point Inn. Whether you’re trekking through redwood forests, discovering hidden waterfalls, or simply strolling along secluded beaches, the opportunities for outdoor adventure are endless.
Young Creek Beach is a secluded sanctuary for beachcombers and nature enthusiasts. Accessible via a steep hike down a 400-foot cliff, this hidden gem boasts black sand shores, dramatic rock formations, and stunning ocean views, promising a tranquil coastal escape.
The Ragged Point Inn and Resort, originally part of the Hearst Ranch, the resort features a hotel, restaurant, gas station and wedding facilities, and provides access to Young Creek Beach.
Explore the expertly manicured garden and grounds around Ragged Point Inn. They are beautiful and are home to Monarch butterflies and a Locks of Love fence. The venue hosts outdoor concerts in the summer, which is perfect for a fun summer event.
