Playa Los Muertos
A short walk south of the main beach, Playa Los Muertos offers a more secluded and tranquil experience. Accessible via a picturesque trail that winds through the jungle and past the local cemetery, Playa Los Muertos is a hidden gem. The beach is named after the cemetery (“muertos” means “dead” in Spanish), but don’t let that deter you – it’s a serene and beautiful spot. The turquoise waters are calm and perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and paddleboarding. Surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic rock formations, Playa Los Muertos feels like a private paradise. It’s an ideal spot for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a peaceful day by the sea.

Playa Carricitos
For those seeking adventure and seclusion, Playa Carricitos is the perfect destination. This remote beach is accessible via a rugged trail through the jungle, and its wild beauty rewards the effort. Unlike the more developed beaches, Playa Carricitos has no facilities, so visitors should bring their own supplies. The powerful waves and strong currents make it better suited for experienced surfers and strong swimmers. The beach is often deserted, providing a sense of solitude and a connection with nature that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s an excellent spot for a romantic picnic or simply to enjoy the raw, untouched beauty of the Pacific coast.

True to its name, Playa Escondida (“Hidden Beach”) is a secluded haven tucked away from the more popular beaches. Accessible only by boat or a long hike, Playa Escondida offers an intimate and serene setting. The beach is part of a private resort, but day passes are available for non-guests to enjoy its pristine sands and crystal-clear waters. The surrounding cliffs and lush vegetation create a dramatic backdrop, making it a perfect spot for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing. For those looking to indulge in luxury and tranquility, Playa Escondida provides an exclusive escape.

Playa Malpaso
Located just north of Sayulita, Playa Malpaso is another hidden treasure that offers a more rugged and natural beach experience. Accessible via a scenic hike through the jungle, this beach is less frequented by tourists, making it a peaceful retreat. The wide expanse of sand and the crashing waves create a sense of wild beauty that’s perfect for beachcombing, picnicking, and photography. While the currents can be strong, making swimming a bit challenging, Playa Malpaso’s untouched landscape is perfect for those seeking a serene escape from the busier beaches.

Playa Patzcuarito
Playa Patzcuarito is the epitome of a hidden paradise. Located a few miles south of Sayulita, this beach is accessible only by a long hike or horseback ride through the jungle. The journey itself is an adventure, leading to a stunningly beautiful and secluded beach. With its pristine sands, swaying palm trees, and crystal-clear waters, Playa Patzcuarito offers a truly tranquil escape. The waves are gentle, making it a great spot for swimming and paddleboarding. Due to its remote location, visitors are likely to have the beach all to themselves, making it a perfect place for solitude and reflection.
